Our Programs
The Round Table is a program of San Isidro Foundation. It is an invitation-only discussion group for leaders who work in the food and agriculture value chain. The Round Table meets twice a year to give thought leaders and invited government, academic, agribusiness, and other interest group leaders a place to talk and interact. Fellows and invited guests are the only ones who can attend Round Table events.
The point of the program is to look at ideas, analyses, and insights that people can use in their own work. The sharing of ideas helps people understand the different ways
to deal with problems and issues in agriculture, the food system, and rural areas. The Program Committee of the Board of Directors decides what will be talked about at Round Table meetings. Most of the time, San Isidro Foundation projects build on each other. The foundation project work can also get new ideas from Round Table talks.
Community Services
Smallholder agriculture is by far the most prevalent occupation among poor families. 80% of the food supply in Asia comes from small family farms, but the majority of these farms are only producing a fraction of their potential. Improving the success and productivity of smallholder farmers is essential if we are to eradicate extreme poverty. Even modest increases in productivity would significantly improve food security in the community.
